I got a new EVO 4g a couple of months ago and I just dropped it on the ground again. This is the 3rd time I dropped this phone. It's now all dinged up. Whatever, the screen isn't cracked. Companies are making these new phones too slippery. I want a phone with rougher surface!

The phone is pretty big. I would go with the droid since it is thicker so you can get a better grip on it.

dropped my iPhone again today, 3 feet off the ground, bounced a few times and landed face down.

No scratches/cracks/whatever

Dropped my Blackberry a few times. It's not fun, but thankfully I haven't caused too much damage.

I drop my phone at least once daily. I like to flip it, I don't make the catch. You start with it in your palm face up, parallel in the ground in a firm grip. Start angling your hand so your wrist faces the sky and your fingers are closer to the ground. Yank your hand up and quickly "roll" the phone off your finger tips. The point is to try to rotate the phone as much as possible without tossing the phone very high into the air.

Oh you think the phones are "too slippery?" Maybe you're just too sweaty or greasy. Try a rubber/plastic cover that doubles as a grip.

That's what I have also. No fear of dropping it anymore, unless it's into water.

I have a Samsung Omnia. i have dropped it a few times. it has a few scratches but still works ok.

only issue is the touch screen is off. the keypad (touch) will not let me use the letter A i have tried recalibration of the screen but that does not seem to work

I have yet to drop my smartphone but my girlfriend dropped it onto concrete when a bee flew around her head (she's deathly allergic).

The phone survived with some dings, but suffice it to say I was really pissed.

my hands are very dry, so there is no moisture at all to keep it from slipping right out of my hand most of the time. my phone is a slippery little ah heck unless im outside and sweating.

i have the same phone. try to reorient, but make the left side to the right of the cross hatches they show on the screen. that will shrink your screen width a bit, but if it is the screen that is borked in that part, you should be able to bypass that bad area like that. i had a similar prob when i was modding my phone constantly, but resetting it to factory seemed to fix it all. i had tried to manually set the orientation and pressure, which wasnt very easy (or effective)

2-3 times, all in the last couple days.

every time was only from a height of 2-3', though, and onto carpet. no harm done.

Where is the "I've dropped my smartphone so many times now I'm shocked it isn't a dumbphone!" option? I've probably dropped my Pre at least once a week since I got it over a year ago.

Pick up one of the hybrid TPU cases on ebay for 5 bucks shipped. I hate cases but this seems to be a happy medium between naked and protected for the Evo.

Dropped my iPhone3GS on Jan 1st at 12:01 AM as I was pulling it out of my pocket to text some friends a Happy New Year. The phone slipped out of my hand as it was coming out of my pocket and landed screen first on tile floor... Needless to say I have had a Cracked screen iPhone since then.

Whats sad is that its the same price for me to buy a new iPhone 4 ($200 16gig) then to get my screen fixed ($200 from apple last I checked).

Edit: Oh, My iPhone was in a hard plastic case too made by Incase.

On average once a year.
That little fucker cost me 300 dollars plus a year at 70 bucks a month.

For that kind of money you'd damn well better believe I keep a strong hand on it.

I dropped my BB bold getting out of the car at work one morning. It hit my leg and slid under my car equidistant from each side next right next to where the A/C was dripping. I proceeded to climb on the parking garage floor in a white shirt, under my car to retrieve it. Not a scratch, no case or anything. Landed on the back and coasted about 3 feet.

I dropped my old RAZR several times, but I've never dropped my smartphone.

I'm so careful with it I decided to cancel my insurance. Knock on wood.
