I have only flown 2 times, once to Vegas and once to Sacramento. Pretty bad flight record. I think I was in my thirties when I flew for the 1st time. Its cool, leaving John Wayne rocks since they have to get up to speed quickly.

A decent amount. Probably approaching 150+ flights.

Only once this week so far. I'm on a week long trip opposed to my one state per day trips. That's when I rack up the flights.

Couple hundred probably. I only took about 10 flights last year, but the year before I racked up probably 50-60 segments.

Um, 4 total trips, I think? DTW->ORD->SAT->ORD->DTW (some auto show when I was like 7), Maine(don't even know where I flew out of)->DTW (high school, had to get back from vacation for soccer tryouts), DTW->DCA->DTW (business 10/2010), and DTW->ATL->LYH(Lynchburg, VA)->ATL->DTW (visiting Blacksburg 12/2010).

Anyone seen Up In The Air? Is 10 million miles realistic?

Realistic as in actually possible? Yes. Realistic as in something that a normal person would ever (want to)achieve? No.

The film listed him as only the 7th person to do it, at least for American Airlines. Man that's a shitload of flying.

Napkin math says at 600 mph, you'd need roughly 2100 8-hour flights.

I'd say in 20 years of heavy flying, it's certainly possible, especially with lots of international travel. Gate to gate, my trip to South Africa was about 23 hours in the air each way.

It wasn't that bad. I flew out of SNA last month.

probably around 30+ times or so, and i still don't particularly enjoy flying, especially when rough turbulence is hit.

on my trip back from cancun last weekend before we departed the pilot told us it will be bumpy on the ascend. it was als pretty windy that day in general so figured as such. it was pretty bumpy for a constant like 90 mins or so, with some of it hitting pretty rough turbulence, some of the worst i've been in.

worst part is that it was a woman pilot, and as soon as we heard her voice my brother and i looked at eachother like 'oh great a woman pilot too ...'

was funny how it hit the 'women are bad driver' stereotype, even though im sure it was just luck :D;

Yeh, fuzzy math between friends says that a trip between LA & NYC is 2500 miles and is 6 hours long.

It would take 4000 trips to make 10,000,000 miles. 4000 x 6 = 24,000 hours of flying, or 1,000 days of travel. Not counting layovers, delays, preboarding, deboarding, and baggage claims.

I probably flew 15-20 times last year (not all were round trip)...I'm only 28 though so I'll rack up the flight pretty quickly.

Anyone have time on the really long flights, like 12 hours or longer? Those seem like they would be brutal.

Yeah. I did one to australia, but I was in business class so it wasn't bad. The 10hr flights to europe in coach are brutal though for us tall folk.
