I've never dropped my phone before. Came close with the Galaxy Nexus a couple times, its Samsung built and very slippery. Slapped a single neoprene case on it and its nice and grippy now.

I dropped the Evo 4g I had 2 or 3 times total in the ~22 months I used it. I used a silicone case on it which definitely paid for itself several times over considering I got it for $7 shipped on fleabay before there were a ton of Evo accessories available.

I dropped my IP4 with a case on and I use my foot to try and cushion it so no damage.
I dropped a LG G2x with out a case and I try using my foot by this time the screen got a small crack on it.

3 or 4 times, no scratches/dents on my SGS2 -- no case -- It's durable because they made it out of ultralight plastics -- the same plastic people complain about "feeling cheap". While the same "premium" feel iPhone breaks because of the weight of their "premium" material of glass and metal.

It breaks because its edge to edge glass. Moto phones are built of metal, and some new ones of kevlar. They can be dropped and sustain only minor scratches.

I've only seriously dropped my phone once. Had it fall from my desk to my carpeted floor a couple of times. It's still in near mint condition (thunderbolt over a year old).

A few times. Good thing I use a $40 POS dumb phone. Best dumb phone I've ever had though. Yay Samsung.

Dropped my Droid X2 maybe 2-3 times, once on a ceramic tile floor. Battery cover came off, but nothing serious otherwise.

I've told this story on here before, but way back when I got a brand new super-expensive original iPhone when they first came out, hacked it over to T-Mobile and life was good. I had a case on it. One evening I was late for a plane and I was running across the granite floors at Denver airport with my coat slung over my shoulder and the iPhone was in the pocket. I turned a corner and started running really fast to make the plane, and I shifted my coat to my other shoulder by sort of flinging it across and the phone flew out of the pocket, and then - and I remember it in slow motion - it arc'd through the air and then landed flat-side down and slide across the marble a good 20-30 feet. Not a scratch on it - although again, I had a hard plastic case on it and the case was definitely scuffed up.

Another time I got out of my car at work, reached in and grabbed my iPhone 3GS off the dash and it slipped in my fingers, and went airborne, I grabbed it with my other hand and it bounced out of my hand, and then I intercepted it with my shoe and it bounced off my foot, and then it landed on the asphalt and there was no damage.

But while I've dropped my phones a few times - about once every six months - I haven't actually ever broken one. But I always have a case or at least a bumper on them.

I dropped my iPhone 4S probably a total of two times without any visible damage at all. Although to be honest it wasn't anywhere close to the drop tests you see online (face down, shoulder height straight onto asphalt). It's more like it fell out of my pants pocket as I was pulling it out and it fell on my kitchen floor.

I let a lady borrow my 3GS and while at work she fell and the phone flew out.
It was a hard fall and we were all worried about her.
Afterward, she approached me kinda scared and told me the screen had shattered.
She thought she killed a $200 phone I lend her.
I told her its OK, I'll fix it.
The glass cost me like $6 on Ebay.
Once I fixed it I told her she owe me $10 and she had this shocked look on her face because it was so cheap.

Yeah glass is cheap as long as the digitizer isn't pasted on the glass :x

HTC Desire Z. Must've dropped it at least a dozen times, from various heights and on various surfaces(rocks, tiles, wood, etc). It's scratched up pretty good, but the screen is still pristine thanks to Gorilla Glass, and everything is still working.

I dropped my OG Droid all the time. However, since then I haven't dropped any of the multitude of phones I've had. I think this directly correlates to the fact that when I had the OG Droid I didn't really need a smartphone, but ever since then it's become a vital tool in my personal and work life.

I've dropped my Epic 4G a few times, but almost all of them have been from like 1-2 feet onto hardwood floor. No damage at all. I did drop it once about 3 feet onto a concrete sidewalk and it got a few scratches along the bottom edge but nothing that actually affects how the phone works. The screen is still perfect probably thanks to Gorilla Glass, never used a case or a screen protector.

I fell off my bike pretty hard with my Lumia 900 in my pocket, does that count? it got a very slight nick on the edge, barely noticeable. The bike didn't fare quite as well.....

I drop my phones more often than I'd like, especially considering I resell them, but whatever. I can tolerate a few nicks and scratches more than a case.

I dropped my iphone 4 onto pavement from about waist height once, got lucky and it only put a little nick in the metal band. It's really all about how the phone lands, if it lands in a bad way the screen will shatter on any phone.

Yup. I had dropped by Venue Pro lots of times with not a scratch, after I got something else and gave it to my girlfriend, she drops it once (less than a week in) and this was the result:

I drop my SGS2 at least twice a week. That doesn't hurt it, the only thing that was when my dog thought it was her chew toy. I am religious about screen protectors and cases though.
