i love my mother my father and my sister unconditionally
i love my girlfriend on condition that she loves me back and stay true to me and herself

true love between lovers is a fiction devised by a civilized society that wants to separate from biology and nature

i suppose even family is a construct of civility, but i would contend that even beyound the social, there is a definite biological/genetic link between me and my kin, which despite any manmade law or longstanding interaction my girlfriend and i will never share. in this our love is conditional to our action, whereas with my family little can they do to change the fact that we are a part of each other (even in lack of love)

well....

love is a chemical reaction that typically lasts from 2-4 years....

so...depending on how much time you have....do the math

I'm sorry you believe that. Love is not a chemical reaction that lasts from 2-4 years. How else would I still love my fiance with all my heart, considering we've loved each other for about 6 years now. Love is not something that can be explained by science, and it's foolish to even try.
