How many strangers would you sacrifice to save your child?

What the hell? Who are you to decide that your child's life is worth more than a total stranger's? What a selfish attitude. If they want to sacrifice themselves, or you want to sacrifice yourself, that's noble. You sacrificing many other people to save your one unspectacular child is primordial stupidity; your genes want to be passed on.

You can just make more kids if you so desperately want to pass on your genes. These strangers who you're mercifully slaughtering don't get that option.

And don't even think about telling me I need to have kids to make this decision.
 
Who are we sacrificing here? Virgins? Old people?

Of it's old people, maybe a few but if it's younger people that have their whole lives ahead of them, then only one. On second though, how intelligent are these 'innocent' people? I'd be more willing to sacrifice someone who isn't going to contribute that much to society than say the next Einstein. What do you consider innocent? Are they just people that weren't involved in the event? If that's the case, are people that are in prison for violent offenses considered innocent?

I guess I answered the question a little too soon.
 
It depends on the age of my child. If my child is an infant, a toddler, or young...I would probably sacrifice the world. But, if my child is old enough to realize what is going on, and makes the decision to sacrifice himself/herself for the benefit of all mankind....well....(puts on sad panda face)
