I would get the two gig kit, i have two gig and almost never hit the page file. That is while video rendering and gaming at the same time.

The only potential problem is that your system doesn't see all three gigs, but instead sees just 2.5. I don't think that will be an issue, tho'.

I may be wrong (someone here will let me know) but I don't think you can do dual-channel with three sticks. So another option is to get two gigs of dual-channel RAM, and sell your current stick. Unless of course you can pair that stick for dual-channel goodness, in which case get a matching gig.

So, there is not such a thing as duo-channel for 2 of them, and the last one by itself?
Thanks!!

what that is saying is if you have two 512 you can pair it with 1 1gb..... so if he want three Gb of ram in dual channel he will need two 1Gb and 2 512Mb.

that site says that the amount of mem in channel A must match the amount of mem in channel B.

Good catch...I misunderstood that.

And fab, don't think you should just go to four gigs...you need XP64 to do that, otherwise XP32 will only see 3.5 gigs...or maybe only three gigs (ymmv)
