How many spaces do you put between sentences?

okay, time to end this thread. straight from MLA.org. complete with explanation as well.

and to quote my MLA style handbook: "A single space between sentences is correct. If your word processor automatically places two spaces between sentences, this style is acceptable."

two is acceptable, one is correct.

edit: and as i said earlier, Chicago also says one is correct, though i think they take a firmer stance on it saying two shouldn't be used.
 
1 is fine for emails and all form of electronic communications, but I would use 2 for printed documents and formal letters.
 
I fell asleep after reading this thread and had a dream where I was on my back looking at the clouds and then Mustafa, James Earl Jones, and Darth Vadar appeared in the clouds and said to use two spaces after a sentence so thats what I do.
 
One space is just another example of the homosexual lifestyle being rammed down the throats of decent Americans.

That's what I gathered as well, but in all of my neffing here I do not recall ever seeing this topic come up.

Not that I am the be-all and end-all of lurking. . .

I always got annoyed when working on group projects when some of the people used two spaces and I used one. Actually, some of the people's writing skills were so extremely awful that the two spaces thing was the least of my worries.

What's with this poll and some of the comments? For some reason, tons of people think two spaces is the rule.
