I think sex workers throw off these averages. Those women with over 20 partners could be servicing a lot of dudes - so many dudes pay for sex as no female wants any part of them.

At least with paying you know exactly what you are getting starting with GFE or PSE, with how many fine tarts, and for how long. With anyone else nope. Cheaper in the long run too.

Or maybe gay guys are screwing up the averages.

- 83% of the homosexual men surveyed estimated they had had sex with 50 or more partners in their lifetime

- 43% estimated they had sex with 500 or more partners

- 28% of homosexual men had more than 1000 partners

There's a lot more sex happening without those craaazy vaginas involved. I wonder what the lesbian sex numbers are.

I'm surprised the poll stops at "21 or more" partners. I'm definitely higher than that and I'm sure many of the women I've been with are too. I wonder what the average number is by age.

Interesting thread and mainly because I'm at a loss how to participate. I at one point kept count of my partners, especially in my younger days when girls were conquests and every new partner was a notch on the belt. That got old and I simply stopped keeping track. I couldnt even begin to tell you what my number is now. I became less concerned with how many and more concerned with "am I getting laid now" and "how long has it beeen since I last got laid"

Heh, I'm in the top percentile and that was before the shooting-fish-in-a-barrel-Tinder app was invented. I'd probably have the herp if that was in my time.

same here, man what trouble i would have gotten into with an app like tinder. i highly doubt my wife is anywhere near mine(neither one of us care nor have asked each other).

it's just a number, and it's just what humans do.

I boned a lot of ugly moms in Norfolk when we were drydocked. Not proud of it, but they count.

well the numbers can not work
if the women truly had 1 partner (sure sure) then at the last option the percentage should be higher for women.
if more women than men had very few partners then that means there should be a lot of women to have numerous partners to make the survey add up.
which we do not see in the numbers
1 partner men 12.5% women 22.5%
15 or more men 23,2% women 9,2%
this can not be true at the same time its impossible

but noone really cared to actually interceded the numbers
1 partner while some surveys say in Australia 50% of the kids in the marriage have another father than the one is called dady.

this is another resource that from the numbers proves the people lied to the survey for what ever reason
thats the only conclusion someone can drawn from this survey
any other attempt is for propaganda reasons

I would have guessed those percentages for the 80's.

There's a question in my mind what you call sex. I've had sexual relations with a few women with whom I never consummated genital to genital orgasmic sex. I suppose those wouldn't count, but they were certainly sexual relationships, at least for a day!

Many studies including this one show the number of partners reported by women as much lower than men, but iirc there was one done with a lie detector, and men's reported values did not change significantly, whereas women's skyrocketed up to being on par with men's. So yeah.

I'm staying chaste fwiw. ():)

Over 25% of gay men have had more than 1,000 partners? I call extreme bullshit on that.

The average number of opposite sex partners should be the same for men and women in a representative sample. You can't have a partner without being their partner.

It's impossible to really check the data given for this because they don't have percentages for every partner count, and they don't only count opposite sex partners. But if you use the midpoint and use 21 for the top, the women have barely half as many partners, at least for the first set. They'd need some serious skews like a lot fewer same sex partners or an average in the 21+ that's several dozen higher than the men to make this work. But I doubt that. It's probably just a matter of the two groups having different standards for whom they consider sex partners, or one group being less honest than the other, or sampling bias.

The limited age range of the samples is an issue, since older men are probably more likely to have sex with younger woman than the other way around. But that'd just increase the number of partners on the women's side.
