The seafood thread made me wonder if anyone else here is an oysteraholic. :)

My friend's family owns Acme Oyster House in New Orleans, and sometimes we'll go there just to see how many oysters we can slurp down (on the house, of course;)). The record holder in their contest at 42.5 DOZEN oysters! :Q

The most I could ever do was about 5 dozen, my friend can do about 7 dozen. I think the problem is I need some crackers every now and then, and they start to fill me up. Plus I slather those suckers in cocktail sauce which could also be filling me up.

I miss New Orleans, oysters up here in New York suck. They're too bitter (not to mention ridiculously expensive).

mmmmm. oysters.

There's a few buffets that I go to that serve oysters. I'd fill one plate after another.

Never thought of eating any more than 20 to 24. Besides, by the time i've eaten that many, and drank an appropriate amount of beers, i am usually on my way home with a girl.

You want expensive New York oysters?

Go to Ocean Grill They have oysters from all over the world, but you are going to pay several bucks for each one... :Q

Yeah, I went to Blue Water Grille (same restauranteur) a couple of weeks ago. Had some oysters from Oregon, I believe. They were better than most I've had up here, but still not as good as Gulf oysters. Plus they were tiny and expensive.

The lobster mashed potatoes rocked though!

During happy hour at Vinnie's I get oysters on the half shell for 25 cents each...I usually suck down 3-4 dozen before proceeding to all-you-can-eat crab legs for $20 on Monday night!

Yeah, I got a job in NYC. I've been up here for about 5 months.

Ever had the BC oysters? They're MASSIVE. Probably 3X the size of a standard oyster. I had 5 of those and 5 small PEI oysters (all shucked myself), and now I'm kinda sick of oysters.

What didn't help were the parasitic crabs (about 1/2 an inch wide) that live inside some oysters, as well as the rare oysters that still move after you've shucked it.

okay, i probably hold the ATOT record for the most.

a quite a bit over 100 raw oysters on half shell. i was counting up to 100, and then i lost count. it was at a seafood restaurant at the top of Harrah's Lake Tahoe, on a Friday night. everything including suite was comped (thanks to my sis) so i ate whatever i wanted. i went there hungry, and all i ate was over 100 raw oysters, a small piece of shark steak, and bottle and a half of wine, along with a shot of Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac (mmmmm). it pays to win big on blackjack.
