The most I've ever done was 22 when I was 10 or so, but God knows how much I weighed then. Before I jumped on madcow, I could pull 15 when fresh, and I weighed about 150-155. I could also pull 5 with a 45 plate.

Now that I've been on madcow for about 2 months, pull-ups aren't part of my routine. I tried doing a set a week ago and got 8 with a bit of a struggle, but could have gotten 10. I weigh about 165 now.

I do 3 sets of 10 at the moment, but my arms are more than shoulder width apart. Just at shoulder width, I'm guessing I could handle over 20 pretty easily. At maximum width, I can manage 8 before my pecs are destroyed.

5'9, 140 lbs.

Used to be able to do 10-15 pullups and 70 push ups. Now maybe 5 and 40 on a good day. 160 lbs.

Looks like i'd do ok so far, but i'm sure a lot of the people who give advice on the "yet another workout" threads are too modest to post their reps.

i think the winner of the upcoming competition will either be a rock climber (there's an indoor rock climbing wall at the gym i go to) or some skinny kid that can freakishly crank out a 100 or so without breaking a sweat.

I usually do really broad-grip pull ups 10 at a time. I'm not in prime shape anymore, but I'm in no means bad shape. Probably 25, maybe a few more.

Push-ups on other hand, I have done up to 40 in one set, and over 120 in 5 sets.

btw: anybody know how to increase pull-up count? What muscles to train and how?

I'm the opposite. I can get 15-20 pull-ups untrained, but I struggle to get that many push-ups at a go.

Note that I don't exercise, aside from hiking.

Chin-ups = palms facing towards

Right now, I can do about 15-20 full at a time. Not too shabby at 36 years old if you ask me. 195 lbs.

On this note, I just want to say that chin-ups/pull-ups should be an integral part of anyone's exercise regimen. Alternating between the two, they're about as complete an upper body workout as you can get.

I never tried to max out. I used to do sets of 8 until I couldn't anymore, and that was usually 2-3 sets. Not that many.

I just bought a new Powertec rack, and just yesterday I finally got it assembled. I haven't worked out in a few months due to a slight injury, and I could barely do 4. It's amazing how quick the strength deteriorates, for me at least. There might as well have been an elephant hanging from my legs.

Back when I was still in the Marine Corps I could do around 38.

I can do around 20 of them now.

i'm worried about you military / law enforcement / fire & rescue guys, too, but i don't think there are many at that gym. hopefully the ones that do go to that gym won't sign up thinking it will be too easy to win.
