How many points get deducted everytime you run a credit report?

I'm just wondering how many points get deducted everytime you ask for your credit report? Or when a 3rd party runs a credit check. Would it be around 1 or 2 points? Thanks, just wondering.

No particular scenario. I'm just curious as I was planning to purchase an Equifax report to see where I stand. Then I'm planning to get a car loan soon also. And was just wondering if the deducted points were anything worth noting as it'll be 2 inquiries. Cause if so, then I won't run a report for myself and just let them check when I go to get a loan.

It's not a matter of how many points per inquiry, but over a certain amount in a short time is a bad thing.

Two shouldn't hurt you much at all, they realize that people who are car shopping will have several inquiries in a short time.

i thought running a credit report on yourself thru experian/equifax/transunion doesnt affect your score.. but does when a creditor inquires about your credit worthness? rossman, where are you? :)

Running your own report does not affect your score.

If you apply for credit & they run it, it does affect your score.

Random checks you didn't request also do not affect your score.

Cool, learned another thing heh thanks :)

Also a bit off track. But is it any difference when you pay your credit card balance in full every month as to carrying a balance? Is either method "better"? Since I paid my balance in full the first few months I had my first credit card. Then after that I started to pay like 50-75% each month and carrying the other small balance. So can you please tell me which would be the better thing to do?

I had a loan officer tell me exactly what Viper GTS Said. She said 3-4 a year is ok but get too many (5+ I guess) is not so good.
