...sacrifice your own life to save them?
Lets say you are put into a situation where you can save the lives of people you dont know by sacrificing your own. How many people would it take for you to give up your own? Say its random people anywhere from kids to seniors.
I think my number would be 100:eek:

One.

There's a couple of special people (and animals) for who I would sacrifice life and limb without second thought if they were in danger.

Depends on the purpose and circumstances. If some religious nut says he wants to sacrifice me so a million other people will go to "heaven", I'd say no. On the other hand, if two children were crossing the street and they got hit and I could have done something but didn't I would regret it.

Where is 1? And OP, changing "lives" to "people" in the title would make it clearer.

EDIT: Thanks, OP :)

That's true. There are some people (family, mostly) who without question I would die for, but for others, it depends on the situation I am in. I would like to say yes for even one stranger, but I just don't know. Peter, who loved Christ, said he would die for Him. But because Peter didn't pray with Jesus before He was taken away, he wasn't strong enough to resist the temptation to run and deny Christ 3x.

"For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:7-8

I said 50, but in all honesty, I really don't know. The heroic side of me says 5, and the selfish side of me says infinity. I hope I don't get to find out anytime soon.

Without knowing the people, I'm not sure. I could be sacrificing my life for Bin Laden and his gang, or I could be doing it for a group of Doctors.

Thats the trick.
I could do for 10 if I knew them, or it was a bunch of little kids.

there's a sizeable list of people i would give up my life for. :(

but i doubt i would, most likely wouldn't, do it for 1 random person.
5? dunno, but i'd like to think i would.

So by saying this, you are going on a scale of Bin Laden = bad and Dr's = good? I don't know about you, but from working in the hospital ED, I would not say all Dr's are saints, you should hear/see some of the stuff they do. If it were for cancer patients/those who would die very soon from unfortunate reasons, they that would be better.
