How many people per 2 liter of pop?

Simple question. For 50 people, how many 2 liters of pop are needed? I'll have a few gallons of water as well.

It'll be outdoors for lunch, high temp that day is supposed to be 79°F.

My estimate was 3 people per bottle, thus I'd want 15 bottles. But, is that estimate way off?

Edit: Soda (but not the confusingly similar ice cream soda drink) for the morons who don't know what pop refers to.

what's ice cream soda?

With having water too, 15 sounds about right. Really depends on how much each person normally drinks and the length of the event.

For SODA it'd be around 3-4 people, I think.
Soda, while it was fun to share half a century ago, people today just don't share them. Nor, does it come in 2-liter form.

2L is about 68 oz, so about 23 oz. a person if 3 people per bottle. That seems about right if it's a long event.

15 bottles for 50 people sounds about right. You'll probably end up with a few left over though so I would hide the extras until they're needed. Nothing stinks more than 10 bottles, all opened and half empty.

Maybe not in whatever state you live in, but saying "pop" around here for what is actually soda is actually illegal. 10-15 years.

Saw a dude walk in to Ralph's and ask for a 2-liter of "pop", ended up watching his prison documentary on A&E the following year.

Fifteen is probably plenty. Make sure that you actually like what you buy because you'll probably end up with extras that you will have to consume later. Make sure you have some sharpies around for people to mark their names on their cups, otherwise you'll run out of cups.

For LAN parties, it's usually a 2:1 ratio, 2 Liter bottle per person

I dunno what kind of LAN parties you've been to, the ones I've hit up it was more like a 5:1, a lot of the dude brought a mini fridge and had like a 24 pack of Mt Dew in it. Silly me I didn't think to bring a mini fridge. lol

3 seems right - some people willd rink too much, some barely any at all

edit: if you're serving booze that will mix well with soda then buy more

Just buy cans. If you have one of those big garbage cans or pales, dump bunch of ice and some water and dump them all in there and let the people decide how mcuh they want.

Screw the sharpies unless you want to sniff em.

Scratch-em cups

Was a big hit at my last party. Some of us might have been a little drunk already, but still a big hit.
