How many people listen to music while at work?

Just curious in finding out how many people listen to music while they are at work. If not, does your work have a specific policy against it? Headphones?

I was thinking of starting to bring some music in to listen to over headphones. I'm not sure if its frowned upon or not. Nobody else does, but they are generally a lot older and don't really seem to be the music-loving type. I don't really feel comfortable asking those in charge either. I figure I'll just do it until someone tells me otherwise. I basically sit in front of a computer programming 8 hours a day, with minimal interaction with others.

If they have a problem with it, they should tell you. I listen to music/talk radio all the time with my earbuds at work and nobody seems to mind.

I do not because I like to talk to my neighbors, but a lot of people do it here....and if you can do it here I bet you can do it anywhere. 🙂

Nearly everyone in the office does. I don't listen to music all the time though.

when i can i do usually everyday in the server room is cool with my boos just aslong as it dont get to out of hand 🙂

Almost everyone here at the office has headphones and will listen to music while working from time to time.
Personally, I haven't lately, but I will if I really need to focus on something without getting distracted.

i used to work tech support and listened all the time.

now with this job i really miss it and i should start bringing it in but i'm not always at my desk and i'm kind of in a hallway area so i dunno if i should or not.

It's hard to hear over the server rack, so I have to balance between "I can hear it" and "People in the next office can hear it" 😛

I listen to music everyday,

last 3 tracks I've heard today:

Radiohead - paranoid android
Moby - Natural Blues
Nirvana - Penneyroyle Tea unplugged

Just finishing my first week of my new job. I will probably bring in the headphones next week and start listening. At my old web job I listened to Pandora with speakers. Everyone else had their own pandora fired up too.

Yep. I use headphones most of the time. I don't think anyone else around here would like Arch Enemy, Opeth, or anything else I like.

Most people where I work bring headphones and listen. I don't listen to music all day long on headphones, but I'd say I do for a solid 3 or 4 hours.

I listen to Sports Talk at work and music sometimes when there's nothing interesting to talk about. Music is hard to get into at my job because I need to keep an ear open for other people doing database work, but we're still allowed to listen to it. What I do to keep an ear open is use my Plantronics Bluetooth earpeice and connect it to my computer. Then open up a stream to whichever radio station I want and 'Ta-Da!' I can keep an ear open and walk around the room working on computers while listening to talk radio.
