How many people here use VoIP ?

I've been using VoIP for about a year. I've gone through a few different providers and have finally settled with a great one. I still have 3 or 4 backups that have a few dollars left on them. I can't say I know anybody personally, who also uses VoIP, so I was wondering just how widespread it is right now.

If you use it, who is your provider ? I use ViaTalk.

awesome, even thought I am in NY, but I have a hong kong phone # and my friend can reach me unlimited talk time.

wonder what a real competitive market can do? the monthly fee for it is about USD $6. I have first 3 months free too.

Vonage at home, and this equipment at work. I love it all.

The only big issue with VOIP at home is the emergency electrical backup.....telephone lines are powered by their own lines. Home VOIP doesn't have that, so if you have an electrical outage, you may not have your home phone (aside from cell). Issues with caller id are suppsed to be solved soon so emergency responders can find you.

Sunrocket over here as well. We still have the land line as a backup, but are planning to transfer that number over. Works beautifully!

Some VoIP companies are starting to sell phones/boxes with built-in battery backups. I personally went out and got a $40 UPS, plugged in my cable modem, router, and VoIP box, and if the power goes out I have about 2 hours of usage (I've clocked it) that I can make calls with. I can also turn off the switch on the UPS to save battery life, but Vonage automatically routes calls to my cell anyways, so if I need to I use that.
