I can honestly say I do both. I'm not overly tasked, so I have time for my own projects as well as what they (engineers) tell me to do. Not a bad setup.

I run simulations all day long which takes anywhere from 1-60 minutes each, so during the run time, I'm on the web, e-mailing, or calling my other buds who don't do work at work... So I guess I do do work.

I work. I also do a lot of posting here. My manager doesn't care as long as I do my job, which I do. I'm consistently either first or second in overall performance, so I can work AND post all I want to.

I am a fifth level consultant. Days go by before anything ever happens. The first level people handle about 75 percent of the problems. Second lever handles about 20 percent, and our third and forth level people are very good and similarly, nothing gets to me. Surf all day long!

I'm great at multitasking. Drinking a Mountain Dew, posting on AT, surfing the web, playing ping pong. And work too.

I'm a crazy multitasker too.

I read history books while taking a bath. Think about .NET while swimming.

And when I use my Athlon, I take it to its limits: I open at least 5~6 programs simultaneously and alt+tab like crazy. I found my 1 GHz "sluggish" at times, so I'm looking into dual Palomino 1.5+ GHz this summer/fall.

I get quite p*ssed at work because I can barely open 2 or 3 browser (Netscape! ewwww) windows on that machine. So I usually use 2 Pentium 200's semi-simulataneously.

Oh BTW, I have 5 part-time/contract jobs at the moment and also a full-time student. I still manage to drop by the Forum quite often, though. At least 3 times a day.

my manager is away now... so i'm my own manager... things run fine, i don't do shiet and monitor the servers and play with my ipaq... else i do work. 16 hour days... thank god for Overtime!
