I did. It was quite easy.
Hiding the cables, that's another story!

But since this is an apartment, I'd advise against it.

I've done it a few times two 42" Lcds and a 42" Plasma.

Its pretty easy, couple of suggestions.

If you have weird spacing on your studs, and want extra support cut and paint a pieces plywood for the mount to go on. Use lag bolts through the plywood to the studs, then attach the mount to the wood. This gives you more options when trying to center the TV.

If your unsure about finding studs, tap a finishing nail into the drywall, if it stops, you have a stud.

Take the time to do it right, and make it look neat, it will be there a for years.

Mounting a TV because it is in an apartment? Just as long as you patch up the small holes that it leaves behind then you're good.

Hiding the cables within the walls...I'd probably not bother with that. I went to a local electronics shop and bought some cable cover....looks great!

I helped my neighbor mount an LCD in his master bedroom. It wasn't difficult. If you have a drill, a stud finder and a level you can easily do it yourself.

here is my LCD...definitely needed two people for this 46" bravia (it only weighs 60 lbs, but is kinda bulky for just one person)...painted the cord cover to match the wall...

most of the mounts are height adjustable (the bars that attach to the back of the TV can be adjusted individually, so on the slight chance that the mount that is attached to the wall is perfectly even, you can make can one bar to be slightly higher than the other to compensate)... at least the two mount kits that I used in the past were like this.
