How many people do you think this guy has fooled?

I don't own a ps3 so forgive me if I ask what's the scam? So he put a 60gb hdd into a 80gb ps3 and says he's selling a 60gb ps3 😕

wait, he says he's selling a 60 gb PS3. But in reality he's selling an 80gig PS3 with a 60 gb drive swapped in...

ooooh, the tom foolery in the thread 😕

The original 60gb PS3 has hardware backwards compatibility. The 80gb does not.

Ahh that's right, I knew that but I also thought Sony made 60gb PS3s w/o hardware backwards compatibility in which case he would have to advertise it as one with it but since you didn't mention it...

I take it you bought it? Give him a negative, that's an inaccurate and misleading description.

But I have to wonder why he'd put it in an 80 GB instead of a 40 GB; at least 80 GB has partial BC.

Hah, he also sells modded 360 controllers with rapid fire buttons. For people who want to make their cheating obvious.

I'm guessing that way the buyer will be none the wiser when he plops in some ps2 games.

Nope, it went from the 20GB and 60GB with Hardware BC to the 80GB with Software BC to the 40GB with no BC.

And now the 40GB with no BC is going to become an 80GB with no BC and the 40GB is going to the graveyard along with the 20GB and 60GB.

Anybody want to explain to me why I would ever want to hop on the PS3 bandwagon when Sony can't seem to keep its own hardware straight?

For Final Fantasy! Oh, wait.

I'm glad Sony made everything so simple.

He's got seven feedback on the first page alone from people who bought 60 GB systems from him, doubtful that he's selling any legit 60 GB ...

Also he lists under features "Backward Compatibility ~ PlayStation, PlayStation 2"

Well technically he's not lying if he's swapping out with the 80's as they have software BC.

Yes but the 60GB and 20GB PS3s are considered more valuable than the 80GB or 40GB because they have Hardware BC. The seller is, at best, misrepresenting his auctions by swapping the HDD to make the PS3 look like the more valuable 60GB PS3.

Launch systems:
20GB/60GB - Hardware BC

Then changed to 40/80gb systems:
40GB - No BC
80GB - Software BC

Just announced:
40GB/80GB - No BC

I see a pattern forming, next up:

80GB - No BC, can't play BD movies
120GB - No BC, plays BD movies

Man, I don't care. I love my 80GB. Software memory card for PSX and PS2 is a god sent. I can finally play my PSX games again and have the ability to save them. Did you know you can't save PSX games on the PS2? WTF is that!

PS3 games are on blu-ray discs...
