Well I just read a few links online about how the soviets overestimated the numbers of their jewish people killed by 3.5 million. If true, it would put the numbers of jews killed at 2.5 million and not 6 million....

I just need the overall total for a paper im finishin right now

Also Stalin's numbers are just as shocking as Hitlers. He slaughtered 2million Soviet Muslims, 7million Ukranians, 2million germans. Thats the reason why present day Russia has a problem in Chechnya.

I had a holocaust lit class and we dug into that number..The number is in fact 5,XXX,XXX... The thing about the holocaust is that they documented every death.. There was no estimate - we know how many people died (The nazis were very clinical about everything).. I'm digging for a site with the number of non-jew deaths..

Is there a resource detailing the breakdown of deaths i.e. Jews, Catholics, etc? Also, is there a breakdown of the types of deaths involved - gassing, starvation, firing squad, etc. and a detail of other crimes committed - rape, experiments on humans using Jews and others as test subjects?

Most statistical breakdowns I have seen list the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust. The estimates vary from around 4.1 to 6.0 million, with more recent research supporting an even higher figure. Hilberg's Destruction of the European Jews gives a detailed breakdown of Jewish deaths. It is estimated that another 5-6 million non-Jews (Gypsies, homosexuals, prisoners of war - especially Russians - were killed during the Holocaust period.

As for the methods, Hilberg (op.cit.) gives a breakdown for Jews.

Overall jewish population prior to WWII was 17million. The jewish population lost 1/3.

More telling is Poland, they lost 6million of their people, 3million jews, 3million catholics to the Holocaust. In total 11million people died in the German Holocaust, 6million jews, 5million others. At the same time Stalin slaughtered 7million Ukranians, and 2million soviet muslims, the two years after the war he continued to kill upwards to 2million germans. Like someone else said the "jewish holocaust" gets more attention than it deserves, there were just as many other astrosities in WWII.

I just think that the holocaust gets a lot of attention (deserved or not I won't say) because it's in people's recent memories and involved people who have are an important part of american culture... Americans don't really know much about what they don't experience first hand.. Armenian genocides? What's Armenia? Jewish people a major part of our popular culture and society and there are still people whom are alive today who have first hand memories of the events (show me a native american who witness the European slaughter of the natives and I'll give you a cookie).. So it's not an odd conspiracy, it's just that we're narrow minded people who don't know much about history!

yes i agree... i don't think it is a conspiracy, just that jewish people are really good at pushing for things that are important to them. the event i had in mind was the occupation of china by japan in wwii. which is obviously just as recent... the difference is that most survivors just wanted to forget about it, nobody made a huge deal out of it like was done with the holocaust. and they're a smaller part of american culture to begin with. but more and more stuff is starting to come out, i just wish schools would spend even a fraction of what they spend on the holocaust on it. well and that the chinese were more like their jewish counterparts to begin with.

How many innocents did Japan slaughter? How many innocents did Stalin slaughter? Stalin slaughtered more people than Hitler, and Japan did a nasty number on China. I dont know the number of Polish, Russians, Ukranians, and Chinese in the US, but there are only 6million jews in the US, 12.9million worldwide. Stalin used the Holocaust to cover up his own misdeeds.

a) the schools don't teach much about the holocaust.. Most schools consider showing "schindler's list" their holocaust education program
b) jews are very vocal.. i'm not making a value judgement. but they make movies about it, talk about it, speak about it.. You're right, asians do not..
c) being asian I'm frustrated by asians american culture quite a bit.. we're VERY quiet about stuff.. we take a lot of sh1t and don't fight for our rights.. one example is the stereotype of an indian guy wearing a turban driving a cab saying somtehing stupid in a think indian accent (very popular in adam sandler like comedies).. now, i don't think it's harmful and I'm not the PC police.. but the fact is that if a black or jew was portrayed like that there would be protests.. indians and other asians do not protest so they don't get equal recognition.. it's as simple as that..
