How many people are pissed at Time Warner Cable???

How many people are pissed at Time Warner Cable after the new year for not being able to watch channels like Comedy Central, SpikeTV, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and some other stuff. The only one I would be pissed about is Comedy Central. All those other Viacom channels suck. I have Dish Network but I feel for you guys.

13.3 million subscribers will lose 19 Viacom channels -- Comedy Central; CMT: Pure Country; Logo; Palladia; MTV; MTV 2; MTV Hits; MTV Jams; MTV Tr3s; Nickelodeon; Noggin; Nick 2; Nicktoons; Spike; The N; TV Land; Vh1; Vh1 Classic; Vh1 Soul

If you've been watching Comedy Central or all those other Viacom channels, they've been having little notices on the bottom to call Time Warner that you want to keep those channels. Comedy Central is a big loss.

This is such BS. First of all they had all the local affiliate stations going off air because they couldn't negotiate a contract back in the early Fall, and now this?! 🙁

Where I work, about 20 people were bitching about them losing channel 2 or 4 (one of the local affiliates.) A couple people were whining that they were missing some show. Ultimately, 4 of them switched to directv. Now, with the temporary loss of the viacom channels, I wonder how many more people will switch to directv or dish?

And, maybe it's posturing - they realize they'll lose some customers short term, but then, they'll get to whine about how it's costing them more to provide the viacom channels and local affiliates, so they have to raise the rates.

I just saw the crawler go across my screen.....I called TW to find out what it was about about and the CSR told me that those channels will be available...... she said they planned to keep them.

As much as I like to see people stick it to Viacom and not put up with their BS, I don't think this is a smart move by TWC. I'm sure they'll eventually agree to a new contract, but TWC might lose quite a few customers before that happens.

Maybe they did a last minute deal or something but everywhere I've read they were losing them. The article I linked to came out today. We'll see in a day.

If they drop the channels, or increase my bill - Verizon, here I come. This, plus the lack of NFL network will kill it for me and Brighthouse.

See this is why we need ala-cart cable. This way cable can just let them charge what they want and see what happens to them.

Viacom wants more money pure and simple. TW, who i am no fan, is trying to keep the price low. If I was TW I would pay what ever they ask but put the Viacom channels in pay group not included in basic cable. That way TW only has to pay Viacom for those they choose and I bet there be a lot of people that would pass on it.

I'm surprised there aren't more people siding with TWC here. Folks bitch enough when cable prices go up, and the new contract with Viacom would certainly cause another increase.

I think they're asking for 25¢ increase per subscriber/month. I have no idea what TW is paying now, but a 25¢ increase for 19 channels seems pretty modest.

It would eventually end up being more than that. Everyone else will ask for a rate hike too. It's a lot like the airlines, when one does it they all do it.

Yep and that .25 rate is what Viacom is saying. That is their math and does not include all the people that will leave this year. So that .25 is probable higher then they say and in the end will be double or more per person.

From the story...

"TWC claims Viacom has asked for fee increases of between 22% and 36% per channel"

So they are asking for about 1/4 or more increase per channel. I say let them. But then do ala-cart with those channels and see what happens to Viacoms ad revenue next year when a pile of people drop most of their channels.

Just saw the scroller this morning while the kids were watching Nickelodeon. Needless to say we/they are not happy. Called AT&T U-Verse today. Adios TW. YOu've fucked me and millions long enough.

How are they "fucking" you? You complain of they raise rates and complain when they go to bat to keep rates lowwer? You do know this is not the first time Viacom has had channels pulled over their fees/rates from others.

Yep same things happened with Dish Network a couple years back.

I have along sorted running history with TW and their shitty service. Both from quality of service, to billing to pricing to delivery of content etc.
