How many peopel have dropped cable TV now with digital?

So have you dropped cable since gettign a TV with over air digital?

When me and my wife moved from NC to n.VA we did not sign up for cable, just FIOS internet.

I put a antenna VU-90 XR in our attic. I get around 29 digital channels (mind you even without cable i still get a religion channel i have to block out). HG tv is about the only thing we kinda miss but there are a lot of shows like that on the channels we got so not even that big a deal.

Cliffs:
Paid $60 for antenna
don;t pay for cable
stilll get over 25 channels
priceless: no cable bill but still plenty of TV

I considered it - I have the HD Tivo box which can use HD broadcast signals. Losing ESPN and Comedy Central would suck though.

OTA with dual tuner HTPC FTW

I'm still in contract with DTV for another 9 months or so, after that it's goodby to my hacked SD dual tuner Direct Tivo,

The switch to OTA digital has allowed the OTA folk to reinvent themselves.

1080i looks awesome & it's free

I haven't owned a real "TV" for about 2 years. The one that I have access too only can receive analog signals, but still uses cable.

seeing as we only get 4 HD channels here from cable i doubt OTA would be better, i dont have either

I like the idea in theory, but I enjoy having HBO too much (no movie rentals, awesome series and documentaries [like Cathouse!! 😀]). Besides, my little girl would be upset if she didn't have Noggin, though she only watches sparingly.

Well...I got rid of my cable, but picked up DirecTV and I'm saving a TON of money. 🙂 Not as cool as going strictly OTA, but it's a step in the right direction for me. 🙂

I don't have anything that can receive digital, and I have no plans to anytime in the future. My monthly cable TV bill is $18. I doubt that there's a digital lineup available for that price. 🙂
The Discovery Channel is about the only thing I watch anymore. I'd only want 4 or 5 channels anyway.

No interest in digital, unless we get some kind of FIOS option. Even then, I really only care about the internet, but I'd do it all just cause. Moot point though, since we'll get FIOS here shortly after hell freezes over.

why is the only "No" option about religion channels? my kids enjoy noggin and disney channels. my wife enjoys nip/tuck on f/x. i enjoy discovery, espn, and hd net/universalhd channels (they have unedited movies for free).

Ahhh.. its a joke. You know how people complain how they only want X channel yet have to pay and get home shopping channels, religious channels, etc...

Which 29 channels do you get?

Well the standard NBC, ABC, etc... also get 4 international channels (1 of them is nigerian). The local PBS type channels that have a lot of shows with cartoons, HG type shows(cooking, home work, etc..). Of course the religion channel, spanish channel, and one that shows some cool movies like 80's and some 90's stuff.

I live in N. VA (springfield) near DC so just about anything they get I have.

the HD quality is actually better from an OTA source (uncompressed). I get 6 HD channels OTA, in a rather poor signal location
