How many PCI slots do you use, and what do you have in them??

5 used/5 (were) available

(AGP Video Card)
1 Network Card
2 IDE Controller
3 PCI Video Card
4 Sound Card
5 TV Tuner

One of my systems, with a MSI K7T266Pro2-A has a Motorola SM56 softmodem, Philips PSC705 soundcard, Philips PSC605 soundcard, C-media 8738 PCI soundcard, the other slot is blocked with the AGP HSF.

Cheers

In my HTPC system I have all my slots used.
Ultra 100 IDE controller card
SB Live 5.1 card
Dazzle DVC II card
MyHD HDTV card
3Com 10/100 NIC

Sure it's crowded in there but my the only thing I'd move to the mobo would be the NIC, if I could.

1 Adaptec Ultra320 controller card
1 Promise Ultra133 controller card
2 3com 10/100 NICs
1 Audigy 2 Platinum

Using two out of 6 PCI slots on my Asus P3V4X mobo.

1x Philips Acoustics Edge 5.1 😎

1x Pine's 56K software modem :disgust:

System w/ Gigabyte GA-7VRXP - Adapatec 2930C SCSI, Creative Audigy
System w/ Gigabyte GA-7VAXP - none
System w/ Asus A7N8X Deluxe - Adaptec 19160 SCSI
System w/ Tyan S2460 - SCSI, NIC

Haven't updated my system rigs for quite awhile.

none in mine, i mostly have integrated stuff with the exception of my geforce4. my dad uses 2 and his gaming machine uses2, my moms uses 3, but we have broadband now and she can loose her modem, so she uses 2 i guess.

4 PCI cards for me, total available for use is 5.

SCSI card, NIC, Sound Card, TV Tuner.

I also use the 1st PCI slot (next to AGP) to help avoid any motherboard IRQ conflicts, still stuck in my head from Win98 days. The last open PCI slot would be a tough fit since it has to go between a the TV tuner and another card.

If I did have the NV35 taking 2 slots, it kind of wouldn't be a problem, but then again if I wanted to get another PCI card I would be stuck. But what PCI card would I need down the road? Firewire? Serial ATA? etc.... Don't know, I feel like I got everything that I use covered now..... but if a new technology comes out and requires a PCI card for the people already near to full then the 2 slot video card would pose a problem for me.

For me, I don't much care for a video card taking up two slots, so I'll probably avoid nVidia 2 slot video cards for the time being until I can free up some space, like with integrated NIC, sound, etc.

I use none in a Micro-ATX system, with a max of 1-2 in use if I added my own sound + scsi or something. (of 4)
I use 2 / 5 in a standard micro ATX case for NIC + soundcard. Micro-ATX commonly has 4 PCI, so not using that one shared should not be an issue.
The case design is more of an issue...not 100% sure if nv35 will fit in this small case.

3 in my main system - Modem, WinTV, IDE controller.
2 in my secondary system - NIC, WinTV PVR 350. Soon, I'll switch the NIC for a RAID card, once my new motherboard gets here.

I don't think that the two slots are the biggest problem with nv35. I think it's the same hampster cage motor fan that was on the Flow FX that might make a lot of noise. It also changed out the plastic hood and rear exhause for a MASSIVE heatsink. The two slots are just a side effect of the MASSIVE cooling solution. I'm more worried about the reasons for needing such cooling. Hope they're nothing like the reasons for the 5800 cooling. Hope that fan doesn't make as much noise as the first too...
A more appropriate poll might have been how many IO plates do you use since a lot of motherboards use two or even three of the case's I/O plates.

Not trying to be rude and all man, but I don't want this thread to turn into the NV35 one so STAY OUT and don't start stuff. And about the cooling...more transisters + more clock cycles + faster mem = more heat + more performance. Deal with it.

Don't alot of cases have extra expansion slots above the AGP for that?? I know mine does.
