How many paid breaks do you get at work?

Just wondering if most of you get the traditional two 15 minute breaks.

I am salaried (not hourly), so I can take as many "breaks" as I want. I don't tell my boss when I put in 10 or 12 hour days, so I also don't tell her when I am going to take a break...

Lucky bastard. The salaried people here are the same. They can show up to work for 10 minutes and go home and not have to take any vacation for that day.

If most ATOT people that have jobs, they are probably of the professional variety. Professionals are salaried and don't have set breaks.

I can come and go as I please but I don't have time to take random breaks. I don't even remember having a lunch where I just sat for an hour and ate. I work 9ish to 5ish, hours depend on clients. Today I'm posting from work but it just an excuse to go to Microcenter.

I would glady trade if they paid me for every hour I actually worked.

Here even professionals are hourly. Almost only managers and supervisors are salaried. Even in the IT department only the manager and supervisor are salaried.

Officially, about 45 minutes for lunch. For a 12 1/2 hour shift, though, that's not enough. Most people who work the same hours take a few 15 minute coffee/smoke breaks during the day as well.

Here I actually get 2 15 min breaks, and a 5 min break each hour. So in total we get 70 minutes for an 8 hour day. Though the 5 min break must be taken during that hour or you lose it.

We used to have 2 six minute breaks. The boss thought we were wasting too much time so he cut it down to 1..... ten minute break

That has to be a violation of some law.

Some one brought that up during our "meeting". The boss told him he looked it up & it's within the law and if we don't like it we are welcome to go work somewhere else.

I don't know what the law is actually.

Contact your state's Department of Labor. Not all states require businesses give paid breaks.

1 15 minute break. I never end up taking it because someone always has to be working in the back and all the other co-workers alternate smoke breaks.

I get an hour unpaid lunch.

Many of you need to contact your labor union. All work places should have a 5 minute break each hour in addition to 2 15 min ones.

These is the breaks State Employees of California get who work on a computer. Our union fought long and hard for these long breaks.

1) You assume everyone works in California.
2) You assume everyone has a labor union backing them.

Come on now.

If you don't belong to a union time to unionize. If your fellow coworkers won't unionize time to get unions in the area to picket.

I wasn't saying everyone has these rights, I was saying to call your union to demand these rights on the next labor contract.

Paid breaks?

I work at a place where I can go outside and smoke whenever I want. I take maybe 5-6 a day. Small companies have their advantages in some areas.
