How many pages (or words) per hour is a realistic expectation?

I am about to hire some writers, and I am going to need to set some recommended page (or word) per hour goals for them.. but I am not sure what realistic expectations are.

It would be fairly simple, story-type blog-type writing.. nothing technical or requiring published perfection.

Anyone have any idea?

Pages per hour? Like some kind of creative sweatshop?

You might be better off paying them on a per article basis and let them work at their own pace. As an added benefit, you'll be able to choose what you publish, meaning you won't have to pay for work that doesn't meet your standards.

I can easily type a 4-5 page quality paper in about an hour.

It depends on if they are typing their opinion or a full blown research type article.

Opinion should be easy since you just write what you feel/think. 10-20 minutes a page is well within reason IMO.
