i missed friends last night and wanted to watch a recording, but I dont have a VCR and more than half of my friends dont have VCR's either and found that weird.

just 1. we bought it four years ago because our last VCR broke. it was probably used only like 4 times since then.

Somewhere around two dozen. A couple of UVW-series BetaSP decks, a pair of Umatic-S 3/4" decks, four BR-S710U duplicators, an AG-MD830 PAL SVHS, a couple of SC-HF750 BetaMax decks, one Hi8 deck, and a mix of pro and consumer SVHS decks.

one left, we have a few kid videos my kids watch sometimes

when it dies, i don't plan on buying another

2

one for the kids to watch their videos on the TV (try giving a 3yr old a DVD and telling him to play it)
and the other is hooked up to the PC to (slowly) convert VCR tapes to digital format.

Yeah, I still have two of them. I still occassionally use 'em to record shows for friends and family, but they collect dust most of the time.

I bought one 18 months ago to record shows. Funnily enough I bought it that evening to record friends for mrsskoorb. I use it for that and sometimes rent tapes WHEN BLOCKBUSTER FVCKS UP, AS THEY ALWAYS DO, AND ORDERS AROUND 4 DVDS OF A NEW MOVIE AND 1500 TAPES.

VCR's

1) ProScan VCR bought from Future Shop (purchased around 1998)

2) Combo Panasonic DVD/VCR from CostCo

DVR's

3) DirecTIVO, the best DVR period.

4) ReplayTV 3060, thank you Mercata.com

5) ReplayTV 5040, Internet Video Sharing and Commercial Advance rock!
