it's being done

urine/blood @ pharmaceutical company. since they haven't administered any tests past the original pending-employment physical/drug screening, i guess they're taking advantage of the oh-too-comfortable state their employees have fallen into.

Update:

Poll Added.

Drugs in the poll meaning any substance that is routinely abused, and when abused (this means even infrequent recreational use- as long as it's outside of the drug's prescribed/medical purpose) can lead to the inability to perform a work function at OPTIMUM (key word, doesn't matter if you can program like a god even when you're high) effiency. And yes, other factors account for sub-optimum performance (like having a tummy ache, fighting with the spouse, being damn lazy, etc.) but let's not include them.

I'm subject to random drug tests everyday!

I personally think it's a good thing and keeps us honest!

Just contaminate the water cooler with something opiate based then stay clean until the retest.

My company doesn't even have a drug free workplace policy that I've ever seen...

Ahhh..working for a small company FTW!

They could also conduct random searches on your residence, automobile, and financial accounts to keep you honest as well if you really want to live like that.

Glad i live in Canada. They can give drug testing, but they can't fire you or demote you based on that. I've NEVER heard of a single company in Canada doing drug testing... it probably happens, but it's very very rare.

If a company does it as a result of them having a suspicion your drug/alcohol use is detrimental to your performance at work, I have no problem with that.

Do whatever you want on your own time, but when it starts affecting a person's business, that is a completely different story.

Oh, and I'd be fine.

If you actually want to beat the drug test, drink a glass of vinegar the night before. That'll put so much acidity in your urine that it'll fubar the test. I don't think this works for blood test though.

Haven't touched a drug since college so I won't care.

you also don't have anything illegal in your home so it'd be fine for them to do random searches there too?

Personally guilty or not my privacy is more important than my current job. If they wer epaying me 6 or 7 figures I'd reconsider my privacy policy.

I love the prevalence of the "if you have nothing to hide, what's the problem" attitude....seems to be the way this country is going..

What you have in your home normally doesn't affect your performance at work. What you put in your body may.
