Google reader ftw. Always perfectly in sync between work and home. I know reading blogs is stupid, but if you spend some time finding ones by actual smart people who write well on subjects in which you're interested and who write in moderation, it's tremendously useful. I have ~35 feeds, some blogs, some news. It takes me 2 seconds to see if any of them have anything new/interesting.

There are a few blogs that are useful in my profession. RSS means I'll catch new postings without having to check each one individually.

Google Reader is my god. I have like 100+ sites in it that let me know when any new posts are up.

yea it does have its use. in juice it makes it so i just have to click catch up to check all my podcast subscriptions instead of checking all the sites.

course the tech was a bit overhyped when it came out.

RSS is neat but it's easily overwhelming once you get a lot of feeds going. You end up spending way more time sifting through tons of feeds and reading less than just visiting a handful of top sites daily. Since many sites are just copy/pasting each other endlessly, do you really that many duplicate news items? I was trying to do the RSS thing but just got to that point of tons of noise coming my way with no productivity gain. I'd much rather go to 5-6 bookmarks and get the source directly.

It's funny that a whole lot of people use RSS and don't even realize it. iTunes podcasts, for example. What do you think it reads?

I'm a huge Google Reader nut too. Love it.

I run feedonfeeds on my website... I love it. it's pretty convenient to be able to check for updates on every single news site I visit without having to remember to go to dozens of different websites, and it's in a format that doesn't scream out "this guy is not doing anything work-related!" from a distance when I'm browsing headlines at work.
