How many of you think Honda should move the RSX to a RWD platform?

Honda is teh suck.
FWD is teh suck.
Honda uses FWD almost exclusively, therefore, they are teh suck!
Oh yeah, they have tiny torque-less engines too, so they're even more teh suck!

ROFLES! I think we all know who the ricer is here, M4H ;) Oh, and I agree with your AWD comment. AWD pwns FWD any day of the week and beats RWD in everything but straight line performance and even then only when the RWD vehicle has slicks the size of a house.

I dont think Honda/Acura are interested in that kind of market for the RSX... i doubt it'll ever happen.

Plus... too many people dont even know how to drive their FWD... let alone a RWD... yet they continue to say how they love RWD.

Just go out to a track day... and all the bandwagoners cant drive squat on their oh so sporty RWD car... but all they can say oh yeah RWD is awesome and FWD sucks. :D

I don't care, but it would be too expensive, and the high strung Honda engines would be too slow with all that drivetrain loss.

"all that drivetrain loss"
 Are you referring to AWD or RWD? RWD hardly has any more drivetrain loss than FWD, and more than makes up for it in traction gained. You're right if you're referring to AWD though.

To me, a good car is a good car. FWD has certain advantages, and RWD has certain advantages.

(PSST. . . Honda also has the S2000. ;) )

Exactly. Too many people think a RWD vehicle will automatically make them faster. A motor with no low end torque sucks from a stop... but hey that means you're doing something with it you're not supposed to. :p

Except for that pesky understeer thing. AWD lacks a good driving "feel". I understand that "feel" is highly subjective but I still prefer a "pure" RWD car to even a rear-biased AWD setup. AWD does wonders for the average driver, I'll grant that. I'll even grant that in some situations AWD will turn in better times from a very good to exceptional driver, but RWD will almost always feel better.

For the record though, I'm atypical in that I prefer my cars to be somewhat oversteering and twitchy. I know it's not actually faster in most cases, but the feel is preferable to me.

Honda makes only FWD because of a cost issue. It's cheaper to make FWD then RWD cars. And, under Honda and Toyota's philosophy, if it sells then why change anything? I would be doing the same thing too because the purpose of a business is to make money and profit.

All I have to say to that is AWD is banned from certain types of racing around the world for a reason ;) No matter how you look at it, twice the drive wheels = twice the traction of 2WD (assuming same size tire contact patch for both setups). I'm not saying that RWD sucks or anything silly like that, just that AWD is faster than RWD in everything but straight line performance, and even then AWD usually has the advantage over RWD (especially on the street).

I think fwd has some advantages over rwd, like say in snow driving, or sometimes on the track. I remember a video posted here that showed a 2.0liter vtec shootout and the civic (granted, it had a b20/vtec hybrid) won over the s2000.

However, I like the feel that a RWD has over awd or fwd. Especially a Mid/Rwd setup.

I don't think honda will ever make anything but their highest performance cars rwd. Awd you may see coming, but rwd won't be coming to the RSX/TSX. Perhaps the TL will get awd soon, as will the revamped RL. Honda is coming out with a truck soon. Also, honda would have to resort to mounting the engine diferently if they made the RSX rwd, which could be a lot of devel time and money.
