How many of you remember when...

I remember it well. I also remember when "service stations" had glass bottles of oil in a rack by the pumps, they refilled them out of a drum. When you pulled in they filled your tank, washed all the windows, checked the air in all four tires, checked the coolant level, the water level in your battery and your oil. Many even promised that there would be an attendant at your window within 30 seconds of pulling in.

Oh, and they also gave out green stamps.

And running over the air hose that rang the bell to let the guy know that you pulled in. Boy, was that thing aggravating. Besides the green stamps you could also get glass drinking glasses, towels and laundry detergent. Sinclair anyone?

Those are before my time, but I do remember seeing a few of those in my grandparents' garage. Even I get nostalgic...

The air hose wasn't even that long ago...the last one I remeber was only about 17yrs ago.

Even in my Yamaha service manual they have Oil in the cans, vintage '79.

I was going to write the same thing. Great Movie. One of the classics. Could you imagine the uproar if that movie were made today?

My kid found one of the spouts in my garage like ten years ago and said, "what the heck is this?"

The kid also found my Dwell meter and was like "what is this for?"
