started out with paintshop - nice program, easy to use. cheap.
graduated to photoshop - exceptional program - i still don't know everything it's capable of but it continues to amaze. if you do alot of image processing, it's actually worth what it costs..can't say that about to many software packages out there (hint hint MS)

Electrode's list of reasons why Paint Shop Pro OWNS Photoshop:

1. On my dual Pentium 3, PSP starts in less than 1 second. PS takes 12 seconds.
2. The UI is very simple and straightforward. The same can never be said for Photoshop.
3. It supports every Photoshop plugin I've ever wanted to use. And that's a lot of plugins.
4. Somewhat related to 2, PSP is completely usable at 640x480. Not photoshop.
5. Paint Shop Pro costs about $150 US. Photoshop costs much, much more.

I could think of many, many more points for this list, but for now, 5 is enough.

Yes, I use Paint Shop Pro. Yes, I own Paint Shop Pro. Legitimately.

Give me one good reason why I should even bother to pirate Photoshop.

Photoshop is just way too expensive for my liking. Granted is for professional use though, so I'm sure millions soak their $$ into it.

I use Corel Graphic Suite 10, Photoshop, and Iphoto for organization.

I really like trace, although i haven't found a good use for it, it is still entertaining to watch while it works.

I have never used Photoshop since a friend gave me his copy of PSP 4 and I have stuck with it since it does everything I want it to do. I am using version 5 now. Tried 7 but I do not legal own it yet.

PSP is a great program, hands down. I bought my copy last year after using the shareware versions for years.

I find PSP easier to use than PS. I don't know what the hell Adobe were thinking when they made some of the commands for PS.

Hey, pulse8, where'd your post go? :p

I have Paint Shop Pro, but haven't used it. I stick with PhotoShop v5.5 (haven't gotten around to messing with the new v6.0 interface) and Macromedia Fireworks for web optimization. Maybe I'll give PSP a peek.

<< I have been using PSP for so long now that I cant even remember when I started. I like the program a great deal and upgrade whenerver it is available. I think I am stuck with it now since I can use it with my eyes closed now. >>
