Just wondering. When I was a kid, fishing seemed to be pretty popular. But it looks to me like it's becoming a lost sport/entertainment on the newer generations...

Yes, i saw a big drop in the early eighties, but since about 1992 I saw a nice increase in the population because of DEP and gaming laws.

Fishing is good.
I like fishing for stuff like bass and pike .. fishing for salmon/trout is boring and i almost got killed once by lightening.

I used to fish almost everyday. Now Im relegated to working though. I plan to retire in someplace like Arkansas or Louisiana and fish everyday again. It's the life if you ask me. Spending all afternoon on the boat with buddies who cares if you catch anything. Then go bird and hog hunting on the weekends. Crappie is my favorite fish.

I would love to start fishing again. I love to eat what I catch, but here in Pennslvania the water is so polluted I'm afraid to eat them. When I lived in Oregon that never was an issue.

I've seen quite a few fishkills in the Susquehanna river. blech I won't even swim in that river anymore.

(those of you that don't know what a fishkill is, it's a bacterial explosion that eats ulcers out of fish which inevitably kills them in the masses... dead rotten floating clumps of fish everywhere...)

McFish or Fillet o' fish or whatever the hell it's called .. blech

No really, an electrical storm materialized right over our heads and we were all looking down into the lake (georgian bay .. off of lake huron) .. and suddenly we could hear rain .. so we all look stern side and you could see it advancing over the water and then we were in it and then a big bolt of lightening hit the lake like 500 meters away ... we were in one of those metal crash boats and we were scared sh!tless and couldn't get the damn thing started...
we finally got it started and made it back to my ex's cottage alive. The girls didn't even ask us if we were okay because by that time the sun was out again .. women for ya.

Once or twice a year. I have family in Savannah who are big salt-water fishermen so I'll tag along once in a while when I'm down there. It's fun, but not something I could really ever get into.

Ive tried fishing, I don't like it. It's boring as hell. Sit there for hours watching the fish swim around your hook and not bite it, or eat the damn bait off the hook without getting hooked. Yeah, I suck at it, I realize, but I don't have the patience to sit there for hours and hours waiting for some crappy fish not to bite. I'd rather go swimming or something.

Once I get my kayak next spring, I'll start fishing again. I drive right by some nice state owned lakes every day on my way to work. I'm guessing the pan fish(crappie, blue gill, warmouth) population is incredible.

I can maybe hit the resevioure and do some walley fishing. mmmmmm walley.

I used to fish all the time when I lived in Michigan. Lakes everywhere. Now that I'm in Atlanta the closest lakes are overpopulated with people and I don't think I'd eat anything caught in them anyway.

I miss the fresh perch and trout you could catch in all the little streams and lakes in MI. Good stuff.

You're forgetting the missing magical ingredient: Alcohol!

Seriously, there's nothing like renting an 11ft john boat with a 5hp motor, and going out on the bay with 3 good friends and a case of beer. Oh, this summer was fun.

I love saltwater fishing... live on the water in long island...... my favorite is sharking or tuna fishing! Except I have a small boat so I can't run farther then 20 miles offshore.... If anyone in the east wants to take me out to the hudson canyon I would be more than willing to go!
