How many of you can dance?

I suck at it. I just don't know how...I can carry a beat but have absolutely no natural dance instincts whatsoever. The most embarassing thing was dancing and having a really hot girl start dancing beside me and closing in...and knowing full well that I couldn't capitalize on it! In one instance I just plain out told a girl "you know what...I don't know how to dance and I don't want to make you look bad so why don't we just go get a drink or something". She obliged but I'd much rather have been able to dance!

So is there a correlation between computer nerd and inability to dance? Speak up so I don't feel so bad

I have no ability on the dance floor. I used to drink, so I would get to the point where I didnt care. It was the only way I could loosen up enough to be able move in a way that didnt resemble a herd of stampeding buffalo. Actually to be honest the drinking probably made it worse, but I just wasnt lucid enough to be embarrassed by it.

hrmmm.. I know ballroom dancing and some waltzing. I do go to clubs a lot. Dance a lot of to techno music and all sorts. For beginners, u got to know how to shake that booty, and everything else would blend in. Give it a try man. It's not that difficult to learn.

I know formal dancing, like foxtrot, waltz etc etc..
however take me to the club and I proabably fail to do much more than move my arms up and down.

I actually know formal dancing too. My cousin had a debut...it's a Filipino ball for a girl's 18th birthday and she chose me to be her partner. So I was the main man so to speak...practised for 6 weeks and got good at it. I've done Spanish dancing too at a school thing.

All that formal dancing stuff gets easy because you have instructions to follow...but just casual dancing throws me for a loop. I get way too self conscious...which makes me look shy...which makes some of the girls I'm with want me to dance more...it's a viscious cycle!

I'm an ok dancer, performed a group dance... technoish to win the talent show my senior year. First year of college, I again performed in a group dance as the half time show to our school's Lunar Gala fashion show. Did it again this year, a different sort of hip hop dance... messed up bad though.
