I voted "somewhat", although I think I am pretty safe, just you never know. No layoffs that I know of at the plant I work at. There is still a small amount of hiring and job posts but not as much as when I was hired last summer. But no benefits have been cut and I got a nice raise and a bonus end of last year, and getting a small raise next month. I work in software for a defense contractor. Also looks like Obama's proposed budget doesn't make the military budget cuts that I think some were expecting. :)

I don't think I'm in danger of being laid off but I guess it's always a possibility.

I could have been in danger.

The Texas Legislature is going to freeze tuition for the next two years at all State Universities. Im employed at one of said universities. Back in Jan, all the system chancellors said if funding isnt made up by the state, there would be massive staff layoffs at UT, A&M, Tech, etc.

Well, Texas is getting $16billion of the federal stimulus package, of which $1.2billion is supposed to go to higher ed. So, Im not so worried about getting laid off in August anymore. Between the stimulus and Texas "rainy day" fund Texas has about $25billion extra in cash.

I'm actually hoping my company would lay me off. If I get laid off my contract states they must pay me roughly 10 months worth of salary, and I would find another job fairly fast with my background.
