I would if I had an LCD.
Still helps on CRTs. I can definitely tell a difference with text - especially bolded.

I can't stand it on CRTs but it seems to help a lot when I enable it on the LCDs at school.

Yea it makes me dizzy on my Trinitron with Radeon 7500. Just makes text blurry. If people say it helps, its probably because they need glasses or a new prescription. (or are just weird :D)

Just turned it on. Everything looks sort of blurry now. This blows, I'm switching back. This is on a Dell P1110, aka 21" trinitron. I'll try it on my laptop later to see if it's better on a LCD.

yea it hurts my eyes on my lcd

Well, considering the Windows XP uses font smoothing by default, Cleartype just makes the text ULTRA blurry.

I turned it off, it is even more annoying on an LCD with native resolution, when you actually can have fonts that have 1 pixel = 1 pixel. VERY annoying.

I use cleartype. It's beautiful esp after using microsoft cleartype tweaker thing. Although, i noticed it does make some websites with text filtering really screwed up.

That kind of antialiasing has been around since Win95 with the Plus Pack and it only works wither larger lettering and certain fonts. Cleartype works with a much larger variety of fonts and even when they're not bold. Personally I really like CT with particular displays like LCDs and some high res CRT's, but when I first used it I thought it was blurry. Getting used to it, I really prefer it on for extended reading periods.

It's hard to describe the difference but when I first used it on a CRT, i didn't think it was that good, but i kept it thinking I would get used to it and I eventually did. Now I think fonts/text looks plain "naked" w/o CT.

My mom uses it on her LCD. I tried it for myself (CRT), and it doesn't look right on my monitor at all.

ok, i just enabled it on my LCD and all the letters seem kinda blurry and colorful. Regardless if this is the new rage, I'd give it a shot to see if things pan out :)

I love cleartype too. I use it on my 21" monitor @ 1920x1440.. makes things a lot more readable. Can't stand without it

Nope, no glasses or contacts here. I used it on my CRTs - 17" @ 75Hz and now on my 21" @ 100Hz ... definite improvement. What I mean by that is no more pixelation. I don't see it as more or less blurry.
