If it was easy, like of a click of a button then I´d pay for some software, like winzip and winamp(just for the hell of it). But since it is alot easier and quicker to just go to astalavista and look for a key there then, no I dont pay for any software.

Some software I will actually pay for like cdrwin and agent. These companies put out pretty good software and I can justify the $20 or $30 bucks for it. Others like MS I am more reluctant to purchase considering that they rape me for 'the next greatest upgrade'. I actually won win2k so I can safely say that I really don't have much on my computer that I didn't pay for.

doing otherwise would be illegal.

we would not want to break laws, would we?

My shareware:
Musicmatch: Got a lifetime upgrade key (paid)
Winzip: Found easy zip (replaced)
mIRC: tried to register 3 times, somehow broke the program, reinstalls of same version don't work, connecting aliases don't work in other versions

Well, Iam bad for paying for software, but if there is a program or game that I like just that much, I will buy it to support the computer idustry, and especially the PC gaming industry.

We all want more games on PC than consoles, we bitch about games being crappy and how we want people to spend more time making them better...but the only way they will do that, is if they actually get paid for what they do.

I have a simple rule: if I find a piece of shareware really useful, meaning that I keep it loaded and routinely use it, I pay for it. If I don't, I don't. This policy doesn't cost me too much since more than 9 out of 10 pieces of software I try I am only too glad to get off of my computer. Wish there was someway to employ the same stategy with commercial software since the odds of it being worth keeping on your machine are no better than for shareware. In a few cases I have even maintained e-mail contact with the originator of a piece of software I especially like.

If it is something that I use more than a few times I pay for it. As a software developer myself I don't see how I could sleep at night if I didn't pay for what I use. When I was yonger I would collect software, I still have about 1000 disks full of software for the Apple II computer, none of it purchased.

I'm with denali.

I'm a developer, so I register shareware if I find it useful. Recently I've registered WinRAR, back when shareware was more common in the days of the BBS, before the internet, I registered a lot of software.

I always do, on everything. It is unethical and illegal to copy it, use an illegal key, etc. You are essentially stealing it.
