How many months needed to learn decent boxing?

Just for the purpose of self defense and some fighting skills, I was wondering how much months would it to learn that much?

Also, how many days a week do I have to put in ?

2 days to learn:
left jab/right cross combo
keep your left up to defend face as you throw the right cross
pivot your hips/feet to increase power for the right cross

To become competent in anything, ya need to spend at least 1,000 hours dedicated tae it.

It's that ol' Bruce Lee quote, where he says he don' give two shits if you know how to do a thousand different kicks. It's when ya've done one kick a thousand times that yer worth a damn.

You'll be better served with general core training until you're in decent physical shape, then looking into a martial arts style.

BBJ, MMA, etc.

no, not 1 day.
20hrs of practice.
so 20 1hr days, 10 2hr days, etc
1 20hr day no

At least 24 months and training at least 2 times a week.

If you want self defense, kick boxing seems to be good to fend of people.

This is not my personal experience but from people who have been training for years like a decade or so. I am just a boxing noob.
Boxing helps when you have a lot of experience and you can estimate the situation and you can throw a lethal combination of punches. But that also means you have to make sure they can never grab you. Clinching in boxing kind of shows what happens then. A streetfighter will fight dirty. Overall, you need to be in good shape. Be able to move fast, keep your balance. With kick boxing, you can also use your legs and knees and elbows.

But it is best to avoid a fight. If they pull a knife or a gun, you will never be able to punch them out fast enough.

I initially though, bullshit. But it kind of makes sense. Most of my college courses were 40 hours of lectures, most of which I spent dozing off or transcribing what the lecturer was saying.

Biggest problem is probably distractions. I "accidentally" give things 3 to 4 hours at a time, then I get distracted for a few weeks.
