How many miles between oil changes?

Anyone here change their oil for their car every 3000 miles? Anyone here add oil treatments to their engine (Prolong, MotorUP, etc...)?

3-4000 miles, with filter, mostly city driving. Never had any problems except for the time I added an oil treatment. Was suppesed to quiet noisy hydraulic lifters. It didn't. It just started to burn lots of oil after that.

3-4000 miles is the norm even if you use synthtic oil...which is a good idea. The purpose is to remove the suspended particles that build up in the oil over this period of time. Also, never put additives in an engine or any other part of the car. It causes more harm than any benifits it claims to offer.

About every 4k on mobil one in my turbo cars. Oil additives are a waste of money and bad for the engine. Did you know slick 50 contains solid particles (teflon)? So when you add teflon to your engine you might as well chuck a handful of sand in too?

Every 3k miles, I like to do it a few hundred miles earlier most of the time since I like to really drive my car 🙂 Although it's taking a toll on my CV joints 🙁

I do mine every 3 months because I put a max of about 5000 miles a year on my car... gotta love short commutes! 🙂

I change mine every 5K miles. I run synthetic oil and a high-quality filter. I'm actually overdue. I am at like 5500 miles now.

5000 miles is fine. Oil is made alot better now..the additives don't break down as quickly anymore. If you read your manual..it'll probably tell you like 7000 miles for regular use and maybe 4000 miles for heavy duty use (driving in LA). But i'd say 5000 miles is good even for heavy use.

about every 4 months or 2000 miles. don't drive much. then again, i'm sorta trying to run this car into the ground so i can have an excuse to get a new one.

Toyota : 3000 - 4000 miles
BMW : 12000 miles - oil changed by BMW. They recommend it.

I used prolong on my old huyndai. And I did run it without oil(absolute bottom of stick / I blown a seal so it leaked oil, it was an old car so I kept it for 2 weeks and bought a new car) for a day or so in Los Angeles traffic.

uhm... you have to change the oil? damn..first underwear, now oil?....uh oh... <runs out to car>

lol.. kidding... i change it every 5,000 miles... as recommended by the manufacturer, Toyota.

7-10k My car has a little light that pops up and tells me to do it. It moniters engine loads, speeds etc. and calculates all that crap, then pops up a little light telling me to hit Jiffy-Lube or whatever.

The little light also tells me too listen to my neighbors dog, but I dont do that, yet.
