This morning I was walking past a McDonalds that opened in late 1999 and it had a sign saying that it was the 900th McDonalds.
This must just be in the UK as I'm sure there are many more than this over the world, but does anyone know how many?

Don't know the number (maybe you'll find it on their site), but there's WAY more McD's than that around the world. You go travelling anywhere in the US and there's a McD's or two in the same area...

Let's start adding them up, There are about 3 in a 5mile radius from me. ;)

Seriously, from the McD's FAQ:

<< How many restaurants does McDonald's have and in how many countries?
There are more than 28,000 McDonald's restaurants in 121 countries.

They will have to wait for the war to finish so that it will still be true that no war has been fought between two countries with McDonalds in them though ;)

There are probably a lot more, I knew of about 8 or 9 near me but the restaurant locator says that there are 34 within a 10 mile radius of where I am now.

Did you guys know that McDonalds is the worlds largest food service company? They feed more people around the world than any other corporation on Earth...

What does that say about people's tastes?

They are also adding a couple thousand a year, I think foreign markets are their biggest growth right now. I don't know how many more McD's we can handle in the US. Read a book not too long ago about how fast food has ruined our country.

It has ruined my waist line for sure... I wear a 36, yuck...

On the other hand, when I did nothing but network support I got up to a 38, I'm working back down to a 34... Grr...

Working in a warehouse helps quite a bit... :D

25 in a 10 mile radius from me.

What's funny is how McDonalds will add stuff to their menu to appeal to local tastes. I ate at McDonalds when I was in New Zealand a couple of years ago, and they had this thing called the KiwiBurger which was basically a Quarter Pounder with beet root, egg and tomato on it. :disgust: A friend over there tried to tell me I had to try one to get the whole New Zealand experience, I declined and said somehow I don't think that is true.

What about that McCrab sandwich in New England? Who has ever had one of those? I have heard that they are just a big joke up there.

On the topic of McDonald's: Why did they cut back their breakfast hours. I remember when they would serve breakfast until about 11:30 and 1:00 on the weekend. Now you're lucky if you can get breakfast if you get there at 10:30. Breakfast is about the only thing that tastes halfway decent there anyway.

Amen to that! Damn those hotcakes are fandamntastic. I just don't wanna know what their made of (actual pancakes sure as hell don't normally taste like that) because I'm afraid I'll never eat them again :D

2 Fillet-o-Fish + medium Coke = $6+ ... no wonder they're a GIANT.

As long as McDonalds continues 49cent cheeseburger days on Monday and Thursday, I know for damn sure they'll get my business at least twice a week. :D
