Does the 360 cut off Live access if you ignore an update?

The 360 asks before it updates, whether it's the game or the dashboard. But if you say no, it won't let you on Xbox Live. If you say no in a game, it tosses you off XBL for the game. If you say no on the dashboard, you're cut off, period, from XBL. This makes sense from a security standpoint, but I suppose some people could find it annoying.
I would point out, though, that PS3 BC improvements are delivered through firmware, whereas the 360's BC improvements are through the game update mechanism. If you start tossing the BC updates in on the 360's number of "updates", it's much closer to the number of PS3 firmware updates.
I'm still in suspense about the "Fall" update for the 360, too. We haven't had even a peep so far about it, which is somewhat unusual.

Yeah .. basically with a modded xbox I would have no reason to be plugged in once they release that update anyways. I want to wait and hear about all the people that get banned and/or all the people that got lucky and found out they didn't place another firmware checker. Final point is I don't want to have a banned box.
I have no problem waiting to get the new counter-firmware once it's released and re-flashing the 360.
It would suck re-burning all the games with new firmware patches applied to them, but overall it's still cost-efficient because I only pay 50 bucks for 25 discs and that's usually less than the price of one game.

It's a bit strange that the longer the console has been out the fewer updates it has received.

not really, the longer a system is out the smoother and smoother it will get. bugs get worked out so less reasons for updates except the minor add on they decide to throw on.

Cost efficient and also illegal, just like all stealing.

no, not LIKE stealing it IS stealing. to me its not worth having a bricked (or banned) system to go out and mod it. But I do understand why ppl do it. Im not innocent by anymeans. and not all the music/software I have is 100% legit. So im not condemning you for it. Just saying be careful.

i know, and plus the fact 2/3 of the time I DO buy a game expecting something good. I get this 1/2 assed crap of a game that seems rushed and or not finished. So i feel like I just wasted 60 bucks. needless to say I dont buy many games. Ill rent if I really want the game or wait till the price comes down (my fav is borrowing though) let my friend pay for it AHH HA HA HA Sucker!

Reviews help with that problem.
