I've got a 17". It's nice for movies and gave it room to have a full num-pad but it's pretty heavy. I don't mind sticking in my backpack and carrying it around but I definitely feel the weight compared to other laptops I've used.

13 w/ M1330
14.1 w/ Vostro 1400

Used to have a d800 with 15.4 but it was too big to carry around... I had 1920x1600 on it.. it was awesome but now im only using 1280x800. Like to have higher res panels

Just a quick question, how is portability/weight/convenience of having a 17" or higher screen? Reason being is that I want to get an Alienware laptop this summer for college, and dunno if I'll be taking it anywhere.
Also, do you need a laptop bag to hold batteries and stuff?

1. Do not get Alienware
2. Do not get Alienware

As to 17, I just put my Killernotebook Odachi (with a C2Q 6700) in my Kensington Contour Overnight case and drag it around.

What's wrong with an Alienware laptop? Price seems to match competitors, sometimes even less? Is it the quality?

google Alienware Horror Story. It's not like they make their hardware either, it's the same third party (Clevo and the like) as everyone else, they just have a nicer shell.

17 inch HP DV9000z (will likely never be inclined for another brand of laptop, love it), and I don't find portability too difficult, it's a bit bulkier, but to be honest it isn't much more difficult than when I haul around my GFs 14.1inch. Just have to shoulder it as I carry it as opposed to being able to carry it around like a purse.

14.1 1440x900 WS. It's a toshiba tablet. I really like it alot. It's a great compromise between portability, and size.
