Like I tell my boss, "You've mistaken my hightened state of readiness with inactivity. My potential to work is at it's highest right now."

If my boss is reading this...

Even though I don't show up until 10:15am everyday, I log in from home at 8:50. And I never take a full lunch break. I leave my desk at 5:05pm. I stay late if and when I must.

Oh yeah, don't forget, I voluntarily come in for an hour or so on Sundays too.

I do all the $#it the other half of the team doesn't do... which is about 90% of the work. You know... I'm that quiet guy in the corner that you need to give a raise to.

Anyway, answering the question... when there is work to do... I'm quick as a cat... done fast (change request for code modifications in as little as 15 minutes) and then I'm back to surfing, researching, or learning... but that does not mean I don't deserve my money! ;) Your answer: 4 on a busy day.

I've done as little as 5 minutes before and quite a few times done as little as 10-15.

Anyway normally I'd say between 15 minutes and 6 hours. If I put in 6 hours of real work in an 8 hour day I'm doing freaking good. Thankfully when I do work I'm extremely productive (I think), so if I'm doing 6 real hours in 8 hours that's a very successful day.

DOH, you beat me too it. Office Space is the best movie ever!! Well, you have had to work in an office environment before, then it's VERY funny.

As for your question. Depends. I've done 0 hours. I've done 15 hours.

anywhere from 1 to 9. If it's really busy I don't take a lunch, other days I'll take a longer lunch or I'll browse the web or read my perl book for most of the day.

I work 6pm - 5:30am .. 30min lunch and 2 15 min breaks = 10.5 hours of "manned time" (7 on 7 type schedule)

Depents ... If we are not busy ... maybe only 8 or 9 hours (Happens on the weekends)
When we are busy, I am working nonstop except for the scheduled breaks (which usually got cut short by a few minutes)

At my old job, out of an 8 hr day, I probably did 7 hours of real work. The other hour was spent sitting at the desk looking pretty.

the job I have now, probably 2.5-3 hrs. Really slow.

We actually keep tallies on this at my job.

In a 360 minute shift (six hours) I usually do general patrol (just driving around) for about 250 minutes. Considering that about 50 of those 110 minutes are taken up either at base or on break, I usually work (I count work as a dispatched call) only about an hour in a six-hour shift.

:D

EDIT: of course, those 250 minutes of patrol are spent doing PREVENTIVE patrol...we're the eyes and ears of DPS so we have to concentrate on what's going on around us.

"I usually come in late, using the side door to avoid my boss. Then i'll sit down, take all of my stuff out, and just space out for about a couple of hours. Then I'll take my lunch break and come back and space out for another hour or so."

"This guy is a real straight shooter with upper management written all over him."

hah...can't get enough of those lines from Office Space...

And the other 8 hours of the day, you sleep. When do you have time to yourself?
