Spoilers add downforce to the rear of the car to keep it from sliding out on hard cornering. This is necessary for both front and rear wheel drive cars.

Finally... someone who knows what he's talking about... :D

I'm sure you'll be making great use of a spoiler in a 110hp economical car. Yeah, you'll go so fast and corner so hard with that ever-so sporty car!

oh and lmao @ the sarcasm comment.. good stuff :D

Maybe you should all stick to knock-knock jokes so KB doesn't get upset.

Then again, with less downward force on the drive wheels, the more tire slip.

During hard cornering it's not like you're going to be going at speeds fast enough to actually create downforce.

I've always said this. But it's not necessary on an Accord anyway.

Maybe he should add some lights underneath, that might make him go faster due to photonic... awww, fsck it.

I hope you are joking.. there are too many people on this forum that have no clue how cars work.

It seems I was wrong, spoilers do not ass horsepower, stickers add horsepower. What do the spoilers do then?;)

They make you look like a complete idiot. Also they make your car look really ugly.

Not on hard cornering. Camber toe alignments do ALOT more then spoilers.

Spoilers and wings don't make one iota of difference on a street car - certainly not on a Honda. They just look stupid. You need to be going over 100mph to have any kind of aerodynamic effect, and on race cars that effect is tuned in a windtunnel. The slightest adjustment makes a huge difference in how the car handles. Actually on that car, the wing most likely just adds drag and slows it down.

I think you may need one of these

But what are you talking about? Ricers are stupid for putting big wings on the backs of FWD cars! I mean, haven't you ever seen those spoof websites with the hicks putting Type-R stickers on their toilets and lawnmowers - it's the most creative and funny thing ever!

Thank Gawd it is not my car, then. :p

Yes, stickers are good. And, lowering the car another 2" would provide an additional increase in power - but watch out for the speed bumps. :Q

If I'm not mistaken, that photo was taken at/near the Santa Claus house. What' REALLY ironic about that spoiler is the freezing rain we've been having for the last 20 hours. No joking, the traffic is limited to about 25 mph, and that's on the highway.

if any of you bothered to look at real performance race cars... much of the Aero packs are underbody work, nose, and side panel kits... the wings only really help at high speeds as others have said. They provide downforce to keep the rear of the car stable under cornering, and at high speed. Not like an Accord can hit those high speeds without the help of a computer mod (it has a speed limiter that kicks in around 130) + a new exhaust (the stock one is crap), new intake, new manifold, new sparkplugs, new wires, new ignition, and a turbo would always help. I used to work on Road racing cars for our local track (Summit Point Raceway)... I've got a Class B racing license. You can ignore wings and shXt. Leave a car stock exterior, and blow away your local ricerboy. AMAF, you can just put larger steel wheels on the car, and wrap them with better tires, and the car actually looks worse.

ohh it needs a new big shiny exhaust tip!

oha nd some NOES (is that spelled right?) stickers. oh and some type-r since it is a Honda.

heh people that do such things to cars always make me laugh. they buy a 10k car and put onther 2 grand into it trying to get an extra 2hp.
They add these silly huge wings, exhaust tips, stickers etc and claim they are getting like 50+ extra HP and are running sub 6/sec runs. it cracks me up. :)
