They provide downforce to keep the rear of the car stable under cornering, and at high speed. Not like an Accord can hit those high speeds without the help of a computer mod (it has a speed limiter that kicks in around 130) + a new exhaust (the stock one is crap), new intake, new manifold, new sparkplugs, new wires, new ignition, and a turbo would always help. I used to work on Road racing cars for our local track (Summit Point Raceway)... I've got a Class B racing license. You can ignore wings and shXt. Leave a car stock exterior, and blow away your local ricerboy. AMAF, you can just put larger steel wheels on the car, and wrap them with better tires, and the car actually looks worse.
