I blame the stores for this. They need an orderly system for letting people inside in small groups at a time, not just all 1,000 people at once.

Retail businesses are often governed by your local state and county (and, if applicable, city) governments. If you have a problem with this kind of retail behavior, blame them [and yourself]. Not all states allow Black Friday Deals.

So states are to be blamed because they haven't regulated Black Friday away?

o_O and

Now this I can get behind. Not because they owe it to the hoards of greedy idiots, but because it's their responsibility to protect their employees.

Well, to be completely honest, I've been a BF shopper since the mid-1980's, around '86. Got lured into it by my first wife.

I've camped out during the days when BB, CC and CUSA duked it out. But it was only sacrificing late Thurs. night sitting/standing in line until the Fri. AM opening, not spending 3-4 days living in front of a store. Now, cannot be bothered with the lackluster deals from BB and Amazon's matching deals. And I've just gotten too damned old anyway.

Did enjoy it, tho. Was fun in a freezing your brass off kind of way. Guess I spent too much time in the military. ;)

But, even as I say I'm not going out, I really am. Going to Belk's for some clothes shopping. Some of the prices are just too good to pass up and there's a store 15 min. away. I buy flannel shirts every year for winter--Belk's has 3-for-1 on some decent ones. Sure, they'll shrink in the sleeves enough to only last a year, but at $10/ea, who cares. After that, back home.

I was flipping channels, stopped on CNN to get the latest headlines, and the reporter was fucking shilling for Black Friday.

He was reporting on it, was asked some questions by the anchor, and said something to the effect if "You won't get better prices the entire holiday season".

Seriously.

I'm a Black Friday carrion. I go out much later in the day and see if there's anything interesting left. I usually just look for cheap Blu-Rays and such, but I've already bought dozens of Blu-Rays for about an average of $5 each online, so I don't know if it's even worth it.

I get all the blurays I want from Netflix. At the rate I receive and return movies, they cost about 50 cents each.

The japanese were more civilized after the tsunamis and earthquakes and nuclear explosions.

THIS! These people are complete idiots and animals. This isn't how civilized people behave. The stores really need to do something like limit the amount of people at a time instead of letting all these animals in at once.

Isn't there maximum occupancy building code already?

that shit gets ignored on black friday.

Look at the vids, people storming in, packed like sardines.
No way a fire marshall would approve of that.

The problem is they make the people stand on line outside the store. So the person who wants the XBOX deal, has to fight the person who wants the TV Deal to get inside the store.

Around here, Walmart let people inside the store to line up, but didn't let them get the merchandise until the official 'start' of the sale.

Not one single person got killed or trampled getting their deal.

Ditto. I went out for my Black Friday shopping after 8 PM. It was nice. I didn't buy much. I can never resist the Criterion savings at B&N, though, especially the movies with lots of extras included. I pick up a few every year.

What are these videos always such low quality? Every smartphone in the past 5 years can do 720p.

Also, the guy 'narrating' in the OP's linked video about zombies forcing retail workers to miss family dinners can suck it. I had to eat a sandwich from 7/11 Thursday night because all the semi-decent fast food restaurants were closed. He can suck my nuts.
