My notebook PC is a Dell Latitude C600. Anyone know whether it can support more than one physical HDD?

This Pentium 3 700MHz rig is at least 3 years old now, so this will probably be unknown to most.

I've never heard of a laptop that could support more than 1 hard drive internally. There probably isn't enough space for that kind of thing in there.

Looks like two internally according to Dell. I've run my D8x00's with 2 internal plus 2 external daisy chained firewire drives, but the C600 looks to be lacking a firewire port.

You can install 2 HDDs internally in this notebook. I had one before and as is the case with all Dell machines you can buy a media bay hard disk holder (it takes 2.5" size drives) - like this:

It will probably trash power consumption and with your machine you will definitely lose the optical drive (because it will go in there), C8xx and Inspiron 8xxx users are lucky in that they have a modular bay AND a fixed bay. But, the answer is yes you can, and the new D series machines also support it.

Ah, whoops, forgot about the media bay :) Sorry about that. I own a dell too, can't believe I forgot that.

Another thing I was always curious about was whether you could run two hard disks and software-RAID them in Windows XP! If anyone finds that out I'd be interested to see the results (but I can't believe no-one has tried already) - I'm especially surprised the high-end gaming machines (i.e. Alienware, Dell XPS/9100, etc.) don't have 2 hard disks - it's not like they drain that much power in comparison to that Mobile Athlon 64 or Prescott P4 they run (and battery life is normally about 30 minutes).
