grr @ Compusa ..

my friend took his computer there and i told him not too. i told him to tell me what the problem was and he should bring the computer to my house. I couldn't tell the type of reboot he was getting so he just brought it into compusa. Charged him 120 bucks to look and repair it, flat fee.

they had it two weeks and they thought it was the ram and they replaced it. still happened. Finally, they made him pay 80 BUCKS for a 30 gig hdd and never gave him back his 60 gig because they thought it was the hdd. Nope. he has it and calls me up. I ask him if the video card is fine and opens the side case and the vid card fan isn't spinning and his computer was rebooting cause his vid card was over heating.

I convinced our other friend to give him his old geforce 2 cause he got a new 9600 Radeon. 3 hours after the install, it's rock stable.

tsk tsk. now he has to go back and ask for his 60 gig drive back + 80 bucks they swindled him for. bunch of bastard idiots. They don't even sell 30 gig drives and they don't cost 80 bucks. i think the tech just took his old 60 gig for himself and took an old 30 gig out of his house computer. Dicks.

I've seen far, far too many people fall to something like this, i would be in Comp USA returning a busted PDA my dad bought and there musta been a line 10people long willing to wait 2weeks and pay compUSA $50 just to look at the thing, just because they dont know better.

It's totally crazy they can rip people off like that. But it's probably the same thing a mechanic thinks when you take your car to the dealer heheh :D

Raising the bar, eh? :D
Try Walmart for PC advice sometime. Unless you call my store at night. Ask for me, and you'll get some real PC advice. :D
Their one electronics department manager - chatted with her briefly. She's been brainwashed by Intel - anything else (AMD) just doesn't work as good, isn't as good a value, and isn't compatible with anything. The 4 AMD systems in this house would seem to show otherwise, but hey, what do I know? :p

Not certified but I do it for money all the time, part time when I have classes, and have a good customer base.

There was this guy at a CompUSA who was telling this lady about the differences between "Built By ATI" and "Powered By ATI". Apparently the Built By ATI cards are more optimized for their GPUs and are faster then the other models for playing games. :p And then she asked if she would notice a difference between her 9700 Non-Pro and this new 9700 Pro and the guy told her she would notice a big difference. And she bought it!

It made me almost want to walk right up to the guy and tell him straight out that he was wrong and let me do all the talking but I didn't. :(
