I was Red Cross certified in CPR, AED, Lifeguarding and First Aid, but the course I took was in my 2004-2005 year of HS (Junior year) and CPR/AED only lasts for 1 year. I have not been recertified in those and they have since changed certain rules (such as compressions/breath ratios for adults). I'm still certified for the next year in Lifeguarding and First Aid, as those last 3 years from the certification date.

Same deal. CPR\AED\Lifeguarding\W. Swim Instructor\First Responder... that was two years ago for being a beach guard for 5 years. No idea which ones are and are not valid anymore.

Mine is current until Sept 08, I believe.

Bare in mind that they just revised the CPR procedures in 2006 as well.

just recertified in February, including advanced first aid, infants, and AED's. An added note to this discussion: carry some type of "shield" with you, in the instance when you might have to do mouth-to-mouth. Our recert is required, and they also issue new shields at each recert.

Our state also has the "Good Samaritan Act", and hopefully I'll never have to wonder at a person's gratitude, by having to utilize the Good Samaritan Act.

What? Help another human being? Preposterous!

All kidding aside, I don't. I don't have any first aid type training at all.

I don't have a card, but I've had training, and I'm confident that I could at least not screw up until paramedics arrive. I'm not saying I could save someone from cardiac or respiratory arrest, but I do think it'd make a difference.
