How many CPU upgrades do you make (or can afford) in a year?

I've been upgrading for awhile, but lately I change the processor every 12 to 18 months.

Here is the cpu family tree -->Commodore Vic20 --> 486sx 33 --> 486dx2 66 --->PentiumII 333 (still use this one) --->Tbird C 1.33 Ghz ---> xp 1700+

It looks like it's time for a Barton pretty soon :)

VIC20!!!! WOW..... with the old cassette tape drive if you were the sh*t back then :D We must be close to the same age.

Yep, that tape drive on a Vic20 was groovy. I think the computer came with 3.5 k of memory, but I got a 16 k expansion module and was good to go. I forgot, I also had a Commodore 128 ;). That baby had all the hig tech gadgetry - like a 5.25" floppy and C64 emulation mode. I also had a dot matrix printer that sounded like a machine gun. For reference, I was born in 1970.

Heck, I still have a dot matrix printer that I USE! And I had a Commodore 128 Portable! But I was born in 1960.

less than once a year. My current system is an XP1800 with Radeon 8500 and 768 ram, and I'll keep it until mobos with full PCI Express support come out.
