Italy is probably my favorite foreign country... everything just seems very chill there, though it seemed to also have the highest concentration of gypsies.

I liked France a lot, but I could really see it sucking if you didn't speak the language. some people in France totally refused to help out my friends till I stepped in and worked as a translator with my mediocre french (even though they probably totally spoke english). at least in Italy, people seemed more amenable to our efforts at pointing and gesturing 😉 I went to Europe with 5 people, none of whom spoke Italian. haha. though it wasn't *too* bad, between people who knew spanish and the fact that we all knew latin (had to study it in high school)

You've never been to a country? You should try it some time. I'd imagine that a lifetime out there in international waters must have been boring.
 
I don't know off the top of my head, a couple of dozen at least since I used to live in Europe and traveled extensively.

How is Laos? A dutch guy I met said it was his favorite place in southeast asia. I look up info on the place and it still seems a mystery to me.
